The homogeneous nanostructure of Hardide coatings has a volume porosity of <0.5% (effectively pore-free), providing a superior corrosion resistant coating compared to other hard face coatings.

The corrosion protective properties of the Hardide coating have been independently tested using salt spray tests, with Hardide coated mild steel plates compared with commercially sourced hard chrome plating and HVOF coating.
The far superior Hardide corrosion resistant coating outperformed HCP and HVOF showing only light staining as opposed to corrosion and heavy rust stains.
Hardide coatings offer the additional benefit of enhanced wear and erosion resistance unlike various paints and soft anti-corrosion coatings. The coatings can also be used at temperatures of up to 400°C where organic coatings and sealants cannot.
