The coating provides excellent protection in demanding speciality material processing applications where resistance to wear is vital e.g. dies and punches for powder compaction and tableting, molds for forming ceramics and plastics and powder metallurgy forming tools.
We worked with Western Process Control (WPC) in Australia to engineer a coating solution on a 316SST/COCRA (Alloy 6) plug stem which was lasting 6-8 weeks before erosion was causing total AA valve failure in a nickel refinery with an average repair cost of US$12,000. The plug stem now has a life cycle of approximately four months in service with minimal wear to the plug. The Hardide coating is now standard on all overhauls, saving considerable downtime and repair costs.
